All About Landon

Ahh Landon..  I could seriously just sit and watch him all day long.  Actually, I pretty much do when I am not working.
I kinda like him…like, a lot.

It just blows my mind that he is already 6 months old.  I need to start planning his one year birthday party!  I only have 6 months, these things take time!   He is doing so many fun things now a days, it is so crazy watching him grow.  My favorite is watching him playing on the floor.  The way he picks up his toys and stares at them and moves them around in pure amazement is adorable.  We love how he rolls over and gets stopped by something or a toy becomes just out of reach and he has to try and figure out how to get what he wants..
his little mind is going a mile a minute!

Saturday was a big day for Landon.  Can you say Green Beans?!  He can’t either, but he sure can eat them!!  He loved them.  Who wouldn’t!  He has officially started his “fake crying” when he see’s us eating.  We litteraly had to hide at Sam’s Club Sunday while we ate our samples because he was so mad!   So, to avoid this every night at dinner, we decided that it was time for him to try some food. (he even tried some water, not sure if he drank any but his shirt sure got wet!)  He made a face at first when he tried the food but I think it was because he was anticipating cereal but after the second bite, he was hooked.  The first few times were very smooth and very clean afterwards.  Not so much anymore.  Now he likes to spit and make weird noises while he eats it, causing it to splatter everywhere!  Pretty sure we had green beans on everything
within a 10 foot radius of his high chair.

He is starting to sit up on his own!!  Well, until he tips over.  We’re getting there.. one minute at a time!  He doesn’t like to bend at the hips much, so he is either standing or laying down.
I swear he is going to walk before he crawls!

Of all of the super fun things that happened this week, Monday (yes, MONDAY!) was my favorite day of all.  Unfortunately for my sitter, (good for me) she sprained her ankle Sunday and stayed home Monday to rest it.  It was short notice so I didn’t get a back up sitter in time so, oh darn, I had to stay home with my little man!!  Any other time I am off work, I would be mad to wake up at 7am.. not today.  Let the fun begin!  We had such a good day just the two of us.  I think I wore him out though, he napped for 5 hours throughout the day and 12 hours at night..
maybe I should stay home more often!

The funniest thing right now that Landon is doing is that he always has his mouth open!  I don’t know if he is hoping something falls into it that he can eat or what, but he does not close it.  He is really good at looking at the camera to take pictures but I can’t get him to close his mouth.  He even smiles with his mouth open.
 Oh well, he’s still cute

I told Landon he could pick a song to put on his post and he asked me to record a song and post it, but then I would have people contacting me left and right to sign me to their label and I really don’t have time for that, so, I found this version of his favorite song that will have to do instead.

Weekend Re-Cap #8

I try and post my weekend re-cap on Monday’s but I was a bit pre-occupied this past Monday, but we’ll get to that later.  In fact, I am going to save that for tomorrow.  I have just decided I will dedicate another blog to just Landon.. so everything, well close to everything about him, will move until tomorrow.
He deserves his own blog every now and thenJ

Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday.  My new favorite night of the week!  I really find it annoying when people post on FB (or anywhere!) when they work out.  “I just ran 5.8 miles!” “Getting ready to hit the gym” “4 Work out classes today”  Good. For. You.  (sorry if you are one of these people, just telling you how I feel)  Not, that I don’t work out, because I do, I just don’t feel like everyone and their brother needs to know about it.  BUT… for the sake of my Tuesday night fun, I have to tell you.  We have a work out class everyday at lunch at work and Monday’s class is DANCE!  Nope, I am not a good dancer, but let me tell you, it is fun.  So, a few friends and I have decided to start up Schrock’s Studios and bust a move in my basement Tuesday nights.  I keep telling Kordell to come dance with us but he won’t.  I know he is secretly upstairs doing the dances.  Somehow he actually knows all of the moves, quite scary.
His favorite one is Teenage Dream.  <3

My God-Father passed away on the 18th, so Thursday evening we went to his viewing.  It doesn’t matter that he was 85, viewings are never fun!  The worst part is, his wife is not doing well so she could not be at the viewing/funeral.  This breaks my heart; I honestly cannot even imagine not being able to be there for your husbands funeral.   Getting old makes me sick.  Let’s move on to a happier subject.  No cavities at the dentist this week, that always makes me happy!  I remember going to the dentist growing up, (yes, I remember this, how?  Probably because I was there every week, j/k) and my mom would always take us to get a milkshake afterwards if we didn’t have a cavity.  I always hated having to wait 30 minutes to be able to drink it… I didn’t get to have milkshakes that often so it didn’t really matterJ   Remember that new computer I got last week?  Yeah, I returned it this week.
Word of advice;
don’t buy a computer based off of the fact that your husband’s name is on the computer.

Friday night was the typical Friday night for the Schrock’s… Old Navy, dinner out.  I always love going out to eat and clearly seeing who has children and who does not.  Our waiter grabbed crayons and an activity sheet for Landon.  Really?  Saturday the Schrockstar’s went to my nephew Cole’s 5 year old birthday party at the Fire Station.  Cole had about 12 friends there ranging from 3 years old to 6 years old.  Remember that show “Kids Say the Dardenst Things?”  I don’t either but I know there was one.  Anyways, they sure do say the dardenst things!  My favorite quote of the day was from the birthday boy himself.. as the fireman was telling the kids what an ambulance is used for, Cole says “We all know what an ambulance is, duh!”
Dumb fireman!

Sunday my parents took the RV up to Potato Creek for their first camping trip!  We went up there for the afternoon and had a great time!  My favorite part was driving around the park and seeing all of the “professional campers.”  These people had yard art, personalized signs with their name and establishment date, and even saw several with party lights all over their campers.  These people aren’t messing around.  My parents have a ways to go to catch up…We decided to go on a hike while we were there, what else do you have to do?!  Kordell had been talking about this hike for days.  He thought he needed to bring snares, ropes, knives and what not just incase he needed to build a fire or kill an animal for dinner.  He watches too many survival shows.  Well, we ended up getting lost and according to my handy dandy smart phone, we walked for 2 hours and put 5 miles on the ol’ sneakers.  Luckily we found a nice family with a map and told us how to get back.  If we would have stayed on the path we were going, we would have been at easily 10 miles.  Good thing we had a bottle of water for Landon’s bottle, my parents dog probably wouldn’t have survived.  Reminder: next time take map, compass and water.

Have you ever been laughed at when you told someone a dream you have?  I have.  By my husband.  I told him about my dream occupation; what I wanted to do for the longest time, and he laughed.  No, I’ll never do it, but we can all dream, right?  I have always wanted to be (I am sure they have a title) one of those people who gets your demo tapes and says “Yeah!” or "Keep Dreaming.”  For some reason, Kordell finds my dream occupation funny.  Regardless, I love music.  I listen to music 24/7, minus sleeping and minus working.  (we can’t listen to music at work, boo!) So, I figured, what better addition to my blog than to add music!  It may surprise some of you the type of music I listen to, so since their may be sensitive ears, I will make sure all songs are the “clean” version!  Each week I will add a new song.  It may be a new song I am loving at the moment, may be an oldie but goodie, it may have a special meaning that I may or may not tell you about… just whatever I am feeling for that week!   I have had songs on it before, but for my first official “I am having a new song on my blog every week” song… Katy Perry – Teenage Dream.  Since it is Tuesday and all, I figured I should post a dance song – why not Kordell’s favorite!

Enjoy!

Weekend Re-Cap #7

I say it time and time again, but I have no life during the week.  So instead of blogging about me coming home from work every day, playing with Landon, making dinner, making our lunches, cleaning up from dinner/lunches, giving Landon a bath, feeding him, putting him to sleep, watching TV, playing on-line and going to sleep every day of the week, I will skip to the weekend!  Ok, back it up, we did go to Kordell’s softball game Thursday!  It was a pretty successful trip this time, no lady ordering Subway for every person she knows, showing up on time (15 min late), no fussy baby.  All in all, quiet enjoyable, minus the gameJ

Nothing like starting your weekend with a friendly wave from a Semi-Driver!  No offense against semi-drivers, just creepy ones.  I just don’t get it sometimes, do these people think if they wave or whistle you will follow them or flag them over and say “Hey, you waved/whistled at me, wanna go out?”  Doubt it.  Some women may find this flattering, I find it disgusting.  Continuing on into my fun-filled Friday night..  The other day Kordell brought home a bunch of 20% off coupons to Kohl's.  It was quiet funny, he thought he had hit the jack pot with these puppies– little does he know, Kohl’s coupons are not hard to come by.  So, on our way to dinner Friday night, we stopped in to do a little shopping. *Oops, did I say I just had a quick return?!*  As I was checking out, (Landon – 8, Me -0..funny how things change) I saw a lady in line with a large purchase and thought, hey! I have a few extra coupons.. let’s make her day.  So, I gave her a 20% off coupon, she was so thankful, but almost more shocked than anything.  I was being nosy and listening to her total, it was $146 before the coupon and then $116 after the coupon.  I saved the lady 30 bucks!!  What a fun game!! I kind of wanted to stay longer and pass out more coupons and watch people save money they weren’t planning on saving to begin with.. But, it was father’s day weekend and all, so we had to get to dinner.  Plus, since it was Father’s Day weekend I allowed Kordell to be a sub in a softball game Friday night so he had to keep moving to get to his game on time.  The games were past Landon’s bed time so we couldn’t go watch, darn!  I had just a grand ol' time by myself anyways downloading tunes and sipping on my vino.  Maybe he can join that Friday night league after all.  (just kidding Kordell, don’t get any ideas)

If you know me, you know I like to celebrate things for as long as possible… I pretty much celebrate my birthday for the entire month of November.  So of course Father’s day isn’t just a day, it’s a weekend!  They say the way to a man’s heart is through is stomach so after this weekend, I think I have pretty much taken over his heartJ  Luckily for Kordell, I cannot sleep in anymore so Saturday morning, I made him the breakfast of champions.  *Another random fact about me, I like everything to be a surprise.*  (for others, not me!)  So, as I was making breakfast, I didn’t want him to see what I was making until I was done, why?  Who knows.. maybe it will taste better if he doesn’t know what I am making.  As I was making his breakfast, I was also making other things for the next day, which was also a surprise, duh.  “Why are you cutting up celery” “What’s the chicken for” “Why is there water boiling”  He’s like a child, or am I?   Kordell has been working on finishing the basement which kind of has taken the backseat now that there is a little kiddo taking up 110% of our attention.  So, for father's day, I knew he would actually want to work on it.  So, Grandma Schrock came to the rescue.  While I went and did girly things, (get my hair done, shop, etc) and Kordell did boy things, (work on the basement) she watched Landon.  Thanks GrandmaJ  Of course I surprised Kordell for dinner and had homemade pizza.  If you ask him his favorite meal ever he will say that or green bean casserole, and that wasn’t going to happen!  Of course we had to walk to Flavor Freeze for dessert.. the whole walking there thing makes you feel a little less guilty for eating ice cream at 8 pm… just a little.

My mom would be so proud of what I made for breakfast Sunday, cinnamon rolls!  No, not from scratch, let’s be serious.  Those delicious ones from the tube you pop out, cook and ice.  We grew up on those things!  Well of course I had a bigger surprise for Father’s Day other than the homemade cinnamon rolls!  We stopped at home after Church so I could grab some last minute things and I think I may have given it away my secret when I said “You probably should go to the bathroom while we are here.”   Oops.  He got in the car and said “So what park are we going to?”  He’s so smart.  We found the perfect spot at Ox Bow Park for us to have our picnic.  No one around except the dragonflies, ants and weird little green bugs.  Somehow I managed to make Chicken Salad, Potato Salad, Fruit (ok, I bought that) and someone’s favorite, dirt pudding all without Kordell knowing.  I packed utensils, drinks, toys, a blanket, a hat, umbrella, stroller, camera, hat and even bug spray.
I am good.

I’ll spare you details of our whole picnic and afternoon but let me just tell you it was perfect!  I thought about doing so many great things with my boys but as smart as my little man is, he won’t remember it.  We’ll save my other ideas for when he is older and I can surprise him too!  I don’t think he minded our little picnic, in fact, I think he had a wonderful time playing with his daddy!

I thought about dedicating a whole blog to Kordell and all of the wonderful reasons why he is such an amazing father, but then I thought, nope.  That’s too much information for you people.  I am pretty sure my card to him said everything that needs to be said.  He even made a comment about how impressive it is that I can fill up every inch of the empty space and wrap up my thoughts with just enough space left for my name.  I’m a professional.  So for all of you mushy readers out there, just know this:  Landon and I are truly the luckiest people in the world to have Kordell in our lives.  He is the most patient and loving father and husband in the world.  I am so happy knowing Landon looks up to such a wonderful person.  Kordell loves this song which is so appropriate to share on this Father’s Day blog.. it always makes me smile just thinking of my two boys.  Especially after yesterday, the whole 4 letter word thing really makes me laugh.  Ask Kordell about his 4 trips to Lowe’s!  I thought that would be every man’s Father’s Day dream;  guess not!

Happy Father’s Day Kordell – We love you!

Weekend Re-Cap #6

What. A. Week!
I hate to admit it but I was almost excited to go to work Monday for a chance to just sit.  I feel like the Schrock's have just been go, go, go these past few weeks.  We are very tired from the weekend, in fact on our 25 min drive home yesterday, Kordell had to pull over so I could drive because he couldn't stay awake.  Yikes!  So, since I am a little foggy, I'll cut the words down and step the pictures up.
I have to make up for last week, right?!

We don't typically do much during the week, Kordell may have a game here or there, may go on a family walk but that's about the extent of our excitement during the week.  No lavish meals, no going out to eat, no hanging out with friends.  We are homebodies Monday-Thursday.  Not this week!  My sister and her family from Arizona were still in town so Monday night we had the three of them, Chris and Lindsay (Cole was gone) and my Dad (my Mom was gone too) over for dinner.  Luckily, I left work at 4 that day so I had time to help with dinner and wasn't completely bombarded when I got home.  That is a lot of people for a Monday night.  We don't mind though, Landon always seems to sleep better after a large gathering like that.  I think he gets exhausted watching his cousins, especially Taylor.  She is full of energy!  I don't know why but she was making us all crack up saying "DELL" alllll dinner long.

As you may recall on my last post, there was a lack of pictures due to a computer issue.  Well yes, our computer died.  Well, not really.  The screen started acting up, so I quickly bought an external hard-drive, brought it in to my IT buddy and had him save my pictures, FAST!  I have learned my lesson once before about computers crashing and losing all of my pictures.. No, I lied.  I guess I didn't learn my lesson because it just about happened again.  I learned my lesson this time, I swear.  I can't imagine losing all of Landon's pictures.. I would be sick.  So yes, I had to buy a new computer this week.  Uggh.  Although, I do have to say, next time you need to buy a new computer, go to Amazon.  No tax, plus free shipping (if you know the right people!)  According to my IT friends, 3 years is about the life expectancy on a computer now a days, (pathetic) so in 3 years when I get mad I have to buy a new one and I say "I swore we just got this one.." I can look back at my handy dandy blog and say nope, it's been 3 years.
I knew this thing would come in handy one day!

Thursday night was simply amazing.  Kordell had a softball game and I needed to run some errands in Mishawaka so my sister Lindsay watched Landon so I could go enjoy my evening without having to load and unload him at every stop.  It was PERFECT.  (Thanks, Linds!)  What's even better is calling to check in to see how things are going with the kiddo and hearing screaming in the background. Yes, I actually liked it.  (I knew he was in good hands, she just forgot the paci at home for a car ride.)
I hung up the phone, turned up my tunes and kept enjoying my evening out alone :)

We were down at my parents all weekend hanging out with the family.  Good food, good drinks, good weather, good company, good times!  It only took the whole weekend and about 400 shots, but we finally got a good picture of all 3 cousins plus grandma and grandpa!
Not an easy task; Grandma and Grandpa would not sit still!

Sunday was a special day for us - Landon was dedicated at Church.  We were so happy to have both set of grandparents, his great grandma and grandpa Schrock, Aunt Kara, Aunt Lindsay, Uncle Chris, Cole, Uncle Derek, Aunt Jenn and Taylor all there.  Landon did so good.  I was worried he would get up there and cry the whole time but he was perfect.  Well, minus him throwing up all over Kordell and me having to leave stage to get a burp cloth.  No biggie!
At least it was on Daddy and not the Pastor!

After Church we had all of the family over to my parents for a cookout and boat ride.  A lady I know makes cakes so I had her make an extra cute one for Landon.  (OK, it was really for the adults.)  I decided I didn't want to be cliché and have a cross on the cake so I asked her to do a picnic/cookout themed cake instead.
The cake was simply amazing!

On a more serious note; to the lady who threw her arms up at me this morning on my way to work because I did not run the ORANGE light.  Sorry you are running late to work this morning, but I'm not.  In fact, I have a few extra minutes that I will do whatever I can in the next two miles to make you even more annoyed:)

(yep, I have severe road rage)
Happy Monday!

Weekend Re-Cap #5

Ok, so I usually write my blogs and then insert the pictures... well I wrote my blog on Monday and then my computer died which had all of my pictures on it.. It is now Wednesday night, no computer, no pictures.  So, this blog lacks a few pictures.  But the good news is, you get to hear all about the computer issues in next week's blog:)
Continue on...

Another week has already come and gone, can you believe it?  I realized that there is actually one negative thing about having a shorter week … Your skin has one less day to heal before the next burn comes around.  I lied, I didn’t burn again.  It may because I actually used sun screen, or the fact that I was not in the sun much due to this little man:

(nope, not the picture I was going to use, but still pretty darn cute)

Regardless of the pain I was in during the week, and the lack of sunshine I got this weekend; it was a pretty darn good week.  The week wasn’t very eventful.. after a long weekend, it takes us old folks a couple of days to re-group!  Thursday night Landon told me he wanted to go to his Daddy’s softball games, so we did.  Kinda.  I had every intention of getting there 15 minutes late (yes, I planned on being late) but that was before I stopped at Subway.  Who on EARTH orders 12 Foot-long Subs?  Oh, the lady in front of me, that’s who.  To make the story even better, her card got declined.  She left her $68 dollars worth of sandwiches to go to her bank to get cash.  Are you serious? Doesn’t Subway have some law; you can get more than 3 subs?  If not, they should.  Ridiculous.  Not only did this cause us to get there with about 15 minutes left of the first game, it made me not have time to get a caffeine free drink so, I had to have caffeine, at 7 at night.
Which brings me to my newest issue…

I haven’t had much time to Google this to properly come up with a self-diagnosis, but I like to call it the “I can’t sleep!”  Hence, the no caffeine after 1pm deal. I guess I shouldn’t call it a new issue, considering it has been happening for quiet sometime now, but it has gotten bad.  Don’t get me wrong, I am tired, I mean tired.  I just lay in bed and think about what we will have for dinner, what I am going to wear to work for the week, what I am doing this weekend, what the weather is going to be like, I think about my car, shoes, laundry, walks, friends, the toaster, what I am doing for Christmas 2015, Landon’s 1st birthday, helicopters, tv, college, facebook, swimming, jewelry, cell phones, clowns, family, jell-o, golf, headbands, glasses, my birthday, the dentist, monkeys, Kordell’s 30th birthday, airplanes, music, gum, tan lines, THIS BLOG.  I think you get the point.  Anything and everything that does not matter at that time and can easily be thought about in 7-9 hours.  People always say, “Get a notebook to keep on your night stand and when you think about something, just write it down.”  Let me tell you the problem with that: 1. There is not enough paper/ink in the world to hold all of my thoughts and 2.  I would not sleep at all because I would be up writing all night.  You read my blogs, I’m a bit wordy.   So pretty much I am going to be busy the next few days trying to diagnose myself with this and come up with a great treatment plan.  I don’t know how the doctors do it so fast, it takes time!  I sure could use a good night of shut eye and I am sure my co-workers (and husband!) would also appreciate not having to look at the bags under my eyes and deal with my blissful attitude.

I left work a little early Friday so I could surprise my sister Jenn, her husband Derek and my niece Taylor at the airport!  The best part of all was that we picked them up in what Taylor (2 ½) likes to call “Grandpa’s Bus.”  Yes, the good ol’ RV.  Each trip we make keeps getting a little longer to practice for that 10 hour drive… one more month!  We stayed down at my parents’ house all weekend with The Moon's.  Finally Mother Nature finally gave us a wonderful weekend; almost too wonderful.  It was HOT.  Even hotter when you can’t find your bathing suit bottoms so you can’t get in the water!  (Can’t wait for my new one to arrive in 3-5 business days!)  Plus, Landon could only take it outside in the shade for about 15 minutes tops before the sweat rolling down his naked little body made him mad.  I don’t blame him; I was pretty much over the heat too.  I am pretty sure I have about a 5 degree comfort zone and this didn't make the cut.  So before Landon and I called it a day and hung in the air conditioning, we decided maybe he wanted to take a dip in the lake with everyone first..
He loved it as you can see from his face.

(imagine a super cute baby having his feet dipped in the lake and screaming because he hated it)
Almost as much as daddy did.  (I swear he wasn’t posing)

(imagine my husbands face and body over the "attractive beauty" as google images likes to call her, laying on a raft in the lake)

Saturday night we played poker.. the economy must have really taken a turn, we used to only play $1 a person, we are now at $2!!  Ballllll-ers!  Guess who took the first pot, yup, my husband.  Guess who won the second game, yup, yours truly.  It’s no wonder they call us Schrockstars.  One more game, I bet Landon would have won.

Landon has had such a good time playing with his cousin Taylor, Aunt Jenn and Uncle Derek from Arizona this weekend.   My favorite part was when my mom was playing with Landon (5 months old) and Taylor (2 ½ years old) and I over hear:

Grandma: “Taylor, don’t hit Landon”
Taylor: “Well he kicked me first!”
Grandma: “He’s a baby, he didn’t mean it.”

His first fight, too cute!  I guess Landon is used to playing with the boys; it appears Taylor is too!  Luckily the weather was nice on Sunday too, so we got to go out on the boat again.  We actually took the boat across the channel to an open house.  Nothing better than walking around your neighbors house when their not home.   The sad thing is, the only other people at the open house were nosey neighbors too.
Wonder which one of us will win the free gas card give away.

This is it folks, “Boom Boom”:

The first color I have painted on my toes in 3 years.  Yes, you read that correctly.  It has been 3 long years that my toe nails have seen any polish.  (don’t ask… )  I finally broke down and did it this weekend.
Hello sandals, hello summer!

Now it’s back to the real world for the week.  What fun and exciting things will happen to us this week?
Only time will tell…
